Why are leftists still suggesting we can tax our way to prosperity?

The bottom line is everyone can't have their cake and eat it too. You have to select one or the other...low taxes, OR more spending on govt programs. You can't have both. Me personally, I'll take the lower taxes, because about 99% of what government spends is waste anyways, and the middle cl benefits much more from low taxes, and this drives the economy. The precious entitlement programs of the left are not going anywhere anytime soon...they are sacred cows, so they don't need to worry. Libs always panic and call for higher taxes, but this is not necessary if the government would not be so wasteful.
