IS it possible that when nearing december 21 2012 people will freak out like The whole Y2k thing?

I know this seems a little stupid but lately i've noticed people slowly changing you know like they don't believe it now but it's kind of itching at the back of the mind. I see it on the news and I notice people acting differently........ Not paranoid or anything but the behavior at the topic seems kind of odd.......hmmmm
