Is it hard to learn how to snowboard after u learn how to ski?

Im going to start snowboarding this year cuz all my sisters and brothers do it. and i just got a longboard and i heard snowbarding helps. but im staying with my dad right now and he said snowboarding sucks. and he wants me to learn how to ski. but i know im going to go into snowboarding anyways
